eVisions Systems offers custom solutions based on .NET/2.0. People new to the .NET world are usually amazed at developer productivity when using .NET/2.0 compared to older solutions. A study was done on behalf of Microsoft by the testing department of Lionbridge Technologies. The results were an astonishing 113% faster than the old ASP technology.

The developers participating in the study were recruited through advertising on Internet job sites (i.e. none worked for Microsoft). The tasks to be accomplished were specifically designed to take more than 5 days to finish. Some of the tasks that had to be completed within a 5 day window included a login page, article page, registration page, shared page elements (i.e. master pages and controls), and database connectivity. These were to be developed with the older version of ASP and the new .NET/2.0 solution. The following results were recorded:

Article page - 357% faster than ASP
Login page - 117% faster
Registration page - 139% faster
Stored procedures (db) - 330% faster

Although there were areas that took longer than the older version of ASP, such as the home page and admin page, on the whole the entire development cycle was much faster at 113%. eVision Systems has embraced this new technology as a must for the development of custom applications for our clients.
