We recently had a fired employee try to slander us on the web. I found out when I noticed that a website showed up on search engines after you searched for our company name. At first it was very disturbing because they were showing up on page 2. I had already done several things to avoid this or he would have been on page one. I immediately started to create more pages on the web with our company name in them to push him on to page 3 or lower. For some reason they don't show up any more but showed me that somebody could get page 2 for my company name quite easily.
It is a good idea to fill up the first several pages on a search for your company name with positive web pages. You can do this buy creating profiles on popular websites like myspace, youtube, flickr, and any high profile blog or forum. Press releases can also help fill up that space. |
