Error message when you use the service calendar to access a service record in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0: "Record is Unavailable. The record that you are requesting is currently unavailable"

When you use the service calendar to access a service record in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, you may receive the following error message:
Record is Unavailable. The record that you are requesting is currently unavailable. Either the record was not found or you do not have sufficient security permissions to view it.
Or, you may receive the following error message:
Error: General Failure in the Scheduling Engine.The record that you are requesting is currently unavailable. Either the record was not found or you do not have sufficient security permissions to view it.
If the DevErrors parameter is enabled in the Web.config file, you may also receive the following error message:
Server Error in '/' Application.Server was unable to process request.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request.
Source Error: An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

If you view the Microsoft CRM Platform error report, the report contains the following error message:
at HttpRuntime.ProcessRequest(HttpWorkerRequest wr)
at ISAPIRuntime.ProcessRequest(IntPtr ecb, Int32 iWRType)
Pointer record exists but referenced record of type 8 not found: <ResourceID>, ErrorCode: -2147220969
Note The <ResourceID> is a placeholder for the actual resource ID that was used when Microsoft Dynamics CRM was installed. For example, "5d97b179-3584-db11-a706-000d60173c99" is a <ResourceID>.
